Personal Care Products Cleaned Up
Over the last year, I have worked on cleaning up all my personal care products and other items. That was very significant this past week when I was reviewing my most recent test results with one of my FDN trainers. I want to fully optimize my health and so in October, I ran all the normal tests on myself that I run for a typical client. My only symptoms not yet resolved are mild allergy symptoms.
The typical FDN approach is to work on the relatively easy stuff like diet and eliminate that as an issue before going onto more difficult and less frequent possible root causes. So, my trainer and I were going over what I have been doing the last year and I was happy to report the following.
- Diet – I eliminated all the foods that I was sensitive to and was eating the optimum diet for my metabolic type. Also, I have a whole-house carbon filter that reduces the chlorine in my water.
- Rest – I am resting well and wake up rested. I am using a grounding sheet on my bed at night to reduce the impact of electromagnetic waves.
- Exercise – I was exercising regularly over the past year but when the test samples were taken I had not been exercising for a couple of months while recovering from a broken bone. So the tests would not be reflecting any issues with over-exercising.
- Stress Reduction – I am using natural versions for all my personal care and laundry products. (I learned how to make soap and so one of the presents I am giving this Christmas is soap.) Also, I retired a year ago so am spending much more time reading and with the family. Thus I don’t have some of the big possible issues like work stress, or in home care for an aging parent.
- Supplements – I have been taking supplements to help resolve some issues identified a year ago.
So the significance of all that was that I have been doing all the normal things to improve my health but still had a lingering symptom of mild allergies. Also, my test results indicated problems across the board that I don’t feel symptoms for but are evident looking at the test results. So we started discussing what else could be going on and came up with several possibilities.
- Mold in the house was the most likely culprit that matched my allergy symptoms. So I have ordered a couple of tests to look for mold in the house and in my body.
- The next most likely cause is heavy metal toxicity. I can see a couple of possible causes for this in my past history where for a few years I was doing a lot of shooting and so may have lead poisoning. Also around 25 years ago I spent a year working in a fiberglass shop and breathed in a lot of solvents and chemicals that might still be causing me health problems. So I have ordered a test to look for metals in my body.
- The last possibility is that I have a parasite in my gut. This is possible but I am going to rank it as the lowest likelihood since I am not having any gut issues and my test for parasites came up negative. However, tests are not perfect and it is possible to not have symptoms but yet have parasites causing a problem. If the other two don’t show anything I may investigate this one further.
One thing this points out is that it can take time to fully resolve all your health issues. Some people can have significant improvement in weeks or a few months. But it is also not unusual for people to take much longer. For example, it can take from six months to two years to resolve gut issues.
